LTCF Question
I'll start off by saying this: My older cousin works security. Where he works at there's nothing but open space and a warehouse. Every day and night that he works, he goes outside of the vacant warehouse to the woods to practice drawing his weapon. Well one day while he was practicing his draws his gun went off and struck a deer, as he pulled it from his holster. Somehow the company he works for found out and fired him, and told him if he tried to get unemployment they will basically blackmail him. Even though it was an accident and he admitted it was dumb for him being so neglectful. I've been around him with his guns and he's usually very safety conscious. I guess my question is even though it was accidental can he loose his security clearance and ltcf behind this?

Re: LTCF Question
Wow. Is he actually able to tell that story with a straight face?
I realize that isn't much help, but I can't figure out how to "help" after hearing that. While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: LTCF Question
In PA we have "At Will" employment. What that means is a company can fire you without a reason. If there was no violation of workplace rules you may be able to collect unemployment even if you get fired.
That said. I think your cousin is screwed.
First if he was hired as an unarmed security guard and he was armed he more than likely violated his job description by being armed, LTCF or not. Armed security requires an Act 235 card in PA.
Second, unless the woods were part of his watch area he left his post, again a violation.
Third, it sounds as if he was pretty reckless and stupid practice drawing a loaded gun and not in a range type situation. Usually safe doesn't enter in, he had a negligent discharge.
Fourth, if the town he was in has an ordinance against discharge within its limits he may have violated a law.
Without knowing more details I'd say yes, he could lose his security clearance and LTCF.

Re: LTCF Question
It sounds to me that your cousin went outside saw a deer a decided to shoot It.
He better pray this goes away quietly as he can be prosecuted for his outrageous behavior.
Also If my theory is correct, then he should loose his LTCF and be thankful he is not loosing his freedom..

Re: LTCF Question
PLUS he killed a deer out of season. Game Commission catches wind .... They take firearms for that.
