Northampton County Council Stalls LTCF fix request.
County council tried to move forward with actually fixing government and it stalled. Currently, to get your LTCF the sheriffs department can/will contact your current employer. This can have lasting impact on your employment.
It was tabled.
Resolution(official lingo of a 'suggestion', not a law): http://nccvid.northamptoncounty.org/...0113623453.PDF
It was tabled for more information, even after the information was provided. Only two brave patriots saw the stall tactic and stood strong.
If you don't think the 2nd Amendment has employment requirements, or employer reference requirements, you might want to let them know.

That's not the only issue with Northampton's LTCF process either.
1) They overcharge by $10
2) They require extra forms to prove residency despite the fact that you have to prove it to get your driver's license or PA photo ID anyway
3) They require a copy of the DD form 214 for ex-military

Now what happens if I do not provide a copy?
I know that it was the last time.

Re: Northampton County Council Stalls LTCF fix request.
Is this something new? I don't recall this ever being an issue when I got my LTCF in Northampton County 3 1/2 years ago, or when the wife got hers more recently (maybe 2 years)... I know they never even called my/her personal references.

Re: Northampton County Council Stalls LTCF fix request.
One of the councilmen was informed that employers were being called, and he felt it put people's employment at risk. When he asked about the process, the reply was something like, "We do it, because we can." The reply didn't' seem to ally some council peoples' concerns. So the resolution was created.

Re: Northampton County Council Stalls LTCF fix request.
Well, it's very doubtful the council can do much about it.
One thing to note though, is that the application form simply asks for "employer/business name" and "work telephone number". If YOU don't have a "work telephone number" I'm sure it could be well argued that you could mark the box N/A. If you do have a "work telephone number" then the call's going straight to your desk anyway. There's nothing that states you HAVE to provide a work telephone number, just that one is asked for.
Do you have contact information for the councilmen that was upset about it? I would like to forward him some information and documentation concerning what the Sheriff CAN'T legally do, but is doing anyway.

You are right, it's a resolution, so it's an official suggestion. Nothing more.
As for not filling out the application correctly, or omitting information, well I wonder what type of fall out that could result in.

Re: Northampton County Council Stalls LTCF fix request.
No, no, no. I am not suggesting you put false information and lie on the form, that would be an incredibly bad idea.
If you have a work number that goes straight to you, you can put it in and you are well within the "block instructions" of the application.
If you don't have a work number that goes straight to you, then you don't have a "work telephone number" and can therefore mark N/A, and you most certainly are not lying.
There is also NO LAW stating that you have to include a work telephone number in the first place. You CAN leave it blank.
Hell I'm an unemployed student, and I legitimately do not have a "work telephone number", but even if I had a boss, and the sheriff demanded me to put his/her number on that form I wouldn't. Frankly, that would be enough of an issue for me to take the sheriff to court over.
ETA: I'm not a lawyer, if you even consider doing what I would do at least consult one first.Last edited by IronSight; July 18th, 2011 at 01:04 AM.
