Default The Franklin in Philly ?

Anyone know the policy of CCW over at The Franklin in Philly? Do they have signs? Metal detectors? Wand at entrance?

    Thanks in advance.

The Franklin: | 222 North 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103 ... would it be considered a school since it has a "edu" extension?

Weird. I've lived within 10 miles of the place most of my life and have never heard it referred to as anything but The Franklin Institute. Anyway, my last time there a few years ago, no metal detectors or wanding. Never saw a sign either - not that that would stop me.

Technically, organizations that are dedicated primarily to education are granted entrance into the .edu TLD. Typically, these are schools. But, the Franklin Institute apparently dedicates enough of its time, resources, and mission to science education that it qualifies.

Yes, I know it's bad form to follow-up on ones own posts, but I thought this was worth mentioning. This link explains the eligibility requirements for the .edu TLD. Of particular note is the following:

    6. Why do some organizations have .edu domain names even though they do not meet the eligibility requirements?

The Cooperative Agreement between EDUCAUSE and the U.S. Department of Commerce specifies that all .edu names in existence as of October 29, 2001 are "grandfathered", regardless of current or past eligibility requirements.
A little research shows that fi.edu, the domain for the Franklin Institute, was created on March 22, 1988 (yes, almost 21 years). I'd say that falls well in advance of the 10/29/2001 cutoff mentioned above. I don't know what the requirements were like prior to that date, but clearly the Franklin Institute qualified.

Man, I haven't been to the Franklin Institute in YEARS!

I did go to a nice science museum in Baltimore, MD that was HUGE...

I carried the last time I went to the Franklin Institute (probably 6 months ago) with no problems. No wandings or scanners at any of the museums in Philly that I know of.
