Argh! Taurus Sucks!
Argh!
My Taurus PT-1911, which I bought on January 26, was sent to repair two weeks after I bought it (for a rusted slide) and was there for 6 weeks. This means that in roughly 3 months of owning it, it has been in repair almost half that time. And NOW the safety pops out every 20 rounds or so. The left side. And it doesn't even pop all the way out so it's easy to reinsert, it jams itself somehow blocking the slide, and even locking the hammer in the down position (I have NO clue how this is even possible).
So, to reiterate, TAURUS SUCKS!
Anyone have any idea if there's a lemon law or something for firearms that rust, are unsafe, and are unreliable?"Twice today have I been told that my outfit does not match my gun..."

Re: Argh! Taurus Sucks!
When I bought my Dan Wesson the owner of the store pulled out a PT-1911 to show a guy and the slide fell off when he took it out of the box. The owner has returned all of his PT-1911's and won't sell them anymore.

Re: Argh! Taurus Sucks!
My neighbor bought one of their revolvers new, I forget what model but the cylinder release fell off soon after he took it to the range for the first time.
It took Taurus a year to send him the part, and when they did they sent the wrong part.
After I heard that horror story, and many others I just took a chance and bought a MILLENNIUM PRO 111 9mm from Shyda's last Thursday.
The price was right, it felt good, and looked good.
Had it it to the range the last 3 days, and around 300 rnds without any problems at all, and it is very accurate.
I hope it stays this way, and I feel confident it will.Timor mortis morte pejor.

Re: Argh! Taurus Sucks!
Ive heard these complaints about Taurus before .
Guess we must have been lucky , cause my PT-92 Beretta clone has eaten over 3k rounds with nary a hiccup , my wife's Tauras Millenium Pro .40 has been equally flawless . And my experiences led me to put a deposit down on a PT1911 AR .
As far as your problem with the left side safety goes , I have heard of that before on the 1911's , IIRC theres even been a couple threads on here about members switching out to a single side safety almost immediately . But I would say check over on the Taurus Forums for some in depth help , it might not be as bad as you think to fix it for good .

Re: Argh! Taurus Sucks!
I have to say, I have the 111 Millenium Pro as well, and I still do enjoy that gun. But I fell head over heels for the 1911 when I felt how it fired, how accurate it was, and how it felt on my hip.
I think my love should have been directed at John Moses Browning for giving us the 1911, not Taurus for the PT-1911 though. As weird as that sounded.
GRRRR IM STILL FUMING!
Think if I make enough of a stink, Gander will return or replace the gun, or maybe the safety? This ambi-safety is a POS.

SHIT HAPPENS, Somebody has to get the bad apple of the bunch .
I had a Taurus 66 and had over 2000 rounds through it and nothing went wrong or got loose.
Just bought a PT 24/7 .45 pro and all is well.....
BTW AMBI Safety's on 1911 style are a pita if not done right.

Re: Argh! Taurus Sucks!
I just bought a 24/7 9mm from a another forum member. I've put 250 rounds through it and I love it. Great inexpensive carry gun that I don't care about getting scratched up. And as a previous poster said, it's a damn accurate weapon.

Re: Argh! Taurus Sucks!
I had the exact same problem with my safety. The ambi safety on these guns is a hit and miss problem that I see posted a lot. I took mine to Backwoods Outfitters in Columbia Pa and he replaced the safety (single sided) for $35.00 and now it works like a dream. Don't get too frustrated, I also had a problem with my trigger bow snagging on the magazine the very first time I took it out to the range and yes I was pretty upset and frustrated as well (I had the their smith smooth that out as well) It did not snag on Wilson mags but now it shoots great with the factory mags as well. You got a good gun for the money, all of them fuck up from time to time, you might want to find a competent gunsmith in your area and this will help with the long wait that Taurus can sometimes have. Good luck.
