Talking Well I stepped in it pretty good. I have to share.

I was talking to my Pop the other day on the phone. He lives up in the Northern part of the state and I was asking when he was coming to visit.
We were BSing about stuff and I was telling him about the Smith SW99 I just got etc..

Anyway he says out of the blue " You know my Garand your always asking about, I make you a deal. Give me $100 a month for 8 months and it's yours"

I about died, I asked him if he was sure and gave him an out if he wanted.

You see I always liked that rifle, I'm a WW2 buff and my Grandfather carried an M1 Garand as a paratropper, my other Grandfather carried a M1 Carbine and it's also on my short list.

But the Garand is beautiful, it is completely & professionly reconditioned to as new condition at the Springfield Armory, (numbers matching?). It has the carrying strap, owners manual, cleaning kit, everything but the bayonet. I'll also get 1000's of rounds of ammo.

It's a 1942 Springfield. Sorry if I'm sounding like giddy little school girl, but I'm excited and had to share with others that understand.
My wife don't really understand when I told her.

congrats, that's great when you get a opportunity like that. family guns are really great to receive and to pass down in turn.

I know I want pics too, all I have is the mental ones. Maybe I'll play the pick4 tonight. I'm gonna have to wait though, its not going anywhere and I will post pics up when I take possession.

The rifle PLUS thousands of rounds of ammo? Damn, the ammo alone is worth a lot. Have fun with it. I don't think I've ever enjoyed shooting rapid fire as much as when i shot one of these. Those guns gobble up the recoil so easily. So much fun. Congrats.
You can never have enough horsepower or ammunition.

    Congrats bud--that's really cool.

I don't know though, i don't think i could charge my kid money for a gun i was giving him---as long as he kept it in the family--another words no selling it off. But if you're happy that's all that matters.

My son is 15 and he already owns (that i bought for him)

    ruger 10/22
    AR-15
    AK47
    Glock 19
    Walthers p22
Mossberg silver reserve 12g o/u shotgun

They are all his to take with him when he moves out as long as he doesn't sell them off for beer money. He also knows that when i pass on in life that he gets my whole collection. So, he is always telling me to buy more guns---especially the ones he likes.

Congrats again---make sure to post pics when you get it.

Yeah, I'm thinking Dad lost at the track again

Congrats on the rifle. I want one, not sure I'll ever have one. My list of wants is long and the prices for all of them go up every year.

Its a unique relationship we have, for one he's my step dad, for 2 he divorced from my mom many years ago. We have remained close and he is essentially my father.

If this deal didn't go thru it would have been a long time before I got one. I just got lucky.
