talk to me about good ol' Mosin Nagant part II(pic added)
So i got my M44 today. Overall, decent gun for the money.
But finish of gun is rather shocking. I mean rough construction of gun itself was something that i expected. Its a Russian gun produced during 1944. U can clearly tell that few finishing touch was skipped to rush the gun in to service. But cretical part - Like bore and action where force would apply when fired is finished in fashon where you would agree that its perfectry serviceable (like that of late last ditch Type 99).
But what disgust me is that pisspoor arsonal refinish! Stock is almost looks as if it was painted(like that of Type 56 available early to mid 90's), painted right over metal parts, and some scratch on the metal was again looks like painted over with black paint, and black paint is all over the wood around where it was painted.
With that being said, I think gun has great potential. Metal is not bad(few pitting here, there. But not deep), and no major scratch on the wood. Its rough, but with some TLC and elbow grease, i think I can make this gun to look nice.
I can't wait to shoot the damn thing tomorrow!!!!!
Just as it came out of box
Next to my other mil rifle of similer era. Type 38 Caverly made in 1909(converted in 1944), Type 99 made in 1943, and now M44 made in 1944
