WSSA Work Day
We're having a work day to hopefully allow us to open the ranges again. Below is the information that you need to know.
Your 2015 BoD is trying to undo some of the harm that was done to the club's reputation over the last 6 or so months. We can only do so many things at one time. Please be patient. We're working on it......

West Shore Sportsmen's Association
Dear daschnoz (because I don't want you to know who I am in real life ),
We are having a work day at the West Shore Sportsman's Association to re-open the shooting ranges.
We need volunteers and tools
On Saturday, 10 January 2015 we will be having a work day at WSSA to re-open the shooting ranges. We will be taking action to eliminate identified safety issues on ranges 1, 3, 4, 5, 8 & 9 to return them to service. To do this, we will be building fixed target positions on these ranges using railroad ties.
To get this done in one day, we need enough volunteers to man three working teams. For tools we need electric drills and sledgehammers, and we are in desperate need of one or two cutting torches.
By working together we can get the ranges open and get back to shooting.
I hope to see you there at 9 AM on the 10th of January. Bring your tools. If you can bring a cutting torch, please send me an email and let me know at: wssapres@westshoresportsmen.org

This scheduled work day is still a go. It's going to be cold. Dress accordingly.

Re: WSSA Work Day
That was ALL KINDS of awesome!
GREAT turn-out and saw lots of faces I don't know which is even better.
Seems folks, like ... WANT the ranges open so they can shoot, and are willing to work to get it done. That's just great, and I think we'll have some good news soon.--Sam

Re: WSSA Work Day
Hey, no problem!
We had so much fun (no kidding, it WAS fun!) that we've talked about doing more of these get-togethers as we figure out other tasks we could pull off with a bunch of strong backs, for the good and betterment of the Association.
We had somewhere around 50 folks show up -- I met a lot of folks I didn't know after 8+ years here. Wasn't really all that cold, and we had lots of coffee, doughnuts, and a very welcome hot lunch, too!
So keep your eyes peeled for invites to similar events from the Pres, going forward.
The ranges that will be re-opened soon all have fixed target stand holders near the berms, so all shots will hit right where they should. They'll work with the target uprights that WSSA provides, so this should be even more convenient for the Members than before. We also did a bunch of general clean-up, removed trash and debris, cleaned up a mess of old shot-up barrels and such like that.
Got done 99% of what we'd hoped to and were out by 2:00 or so!
We've got just a few tiny details to nail down this week and we expect an announcement (an email from the new WSSA President, Mike Beliveau) very shortly about the official terms of "the plan." So watch your email and if you can come out on the 27th for the General Meeting, please do!--Sam
