McFurious about Cindy the pill-popper article
Looks like Johnny Mac is on the attack about a recent piece the NYT did on his wife's pain pill thefts, lonely miscarriages, and not being received well by the DC GOP.
Surprisingly, McCain sent off his rebuttal to the unbiased Faux News...home of Karl Rove.
Fox
John McCain's campaign is expressing outrage over a New York Times story that focuses on Cindy McCain's marriage to the Arizona senator, including her miscarriages, her past addiction to painkillers and her failure in Washington to fit in.

The NYT article, which McCain refrains from disputing a single item...
NYT
Cindy McCain was new to Washington and not yet 30 when she arrived at a luncheon for Congressional spouses to discover a problem with her name tag.
It read “Carol McCain.” That was the well-liked wife John McCain had left to marry Cindy, to the disapproval of many in Washington.
Fearing that the slight was intentional, she slinked to a half-empty table that never filled. “No one wanted to sit at her table,“ said Barbara Ross, a friend who was not surprised when Mrs. McCain announced a few months later that she was moving back to Arizona. “It was like high school.”

Re: McFurious about Cindy the pill-popper article
Thats not right.. Unless she's going to be sitting in on cabinet meetings, this sort of stuff (read family) isn't really approprate or fair to her..
And franky none of our business.. (unless she's doing lines off of the dishes in the China Room..lol)

Have you ever read this woman's bio? It's extremely impressive.
Posting and taking delight in human failure. You're no different than the NYT.

Re: McFurious about Cindy the pill-popper article
Spouses are NEVER fair game, unless they are also in politics, or are out there shooting off their mouths like Michelle Obama.
However, the fact that it's not fair to dig up dirt on spouses just to smear their significant other has never stopped "the media" form engaging in the practice.

Re: McFurious about Cindy the pill-popper article
Sorry can't have it both ways.
Hillary was different since she actually used her office for political power during her husbands term.
Michelle can make all the speeches and all that good stuff (so does Cindy) but the key is if she plans to operate and promote political agenda (other then typical "First Lady" issues that are historically limited..
Even then, a spouses / child's history or problems should never be directly attacked if they themselves aren't running for office.
It's just dirty politics.. And it's dirty no matter WHICH side does it. Personally I'm getting really tired of all the crap slinging in general. Just have the Wall Street Journal, or (if you can find it) a totally nonpartisan outlet print out a 100 page book detailing each nominee's plan in detail, compare them, and just frigging have the election day already..
I'm exausted.. lolLast edited by Morel42; October 19th, 2008 at 02:33 AM.

Re: McFurious about Cindy the pill-popper article
So Cindy isn't out there shooting off her mouth for her husband?
Hilarious. I just went through the Michelle Obama thread, and not one complaint there (and rightly so, IMO).
But say anything about Cindy McPillpopper, and now spouses aren't touchable.
Are we sure it's just the media that has the double standards?
