Magazine Quantity Question
Ok all you seasoned shooters - here is newest question !!
I have 4 mags for my M&P (17 round) and 4 for my MarkIII (10 round)- is that enough for each gun for a long hopefully life of shooting - or should i buy more in case of failures (not sure how long they last) or mag size limits to maybe come in future????
If i ever get my 10/22 to work right - should I buy 25 rounders?
Thanks all

Re: Magazine Quantity Question
it is not a matter of how long they will last but a question of how long will you be able to get them. i personally pick up hi caps every time i have extra $. got a closet full of misc. mags even for weapons i do not have (trading stock). if it is a hi cap it is good as cash. handguns i would say a minimum of 10 is a good start. rifles ar,s and ak,s a good start would be 50 per. bolt guns 5 to 10 is a nice beginning. start now it takes a while to accumulate a good quantity. keep in mind i buy when they are special pricing, no reason to spend more than you have to. what sucks is when you get a new gun, that gives you one more platform to try and stock up on.

Re: Magazine Quantity Question
If you are interested in stockpiling than how many is up to you and your budget. Four mags for shooting purposes i would think is plenty. I have mags that are 25 years old and still work fine. I would suggest rotating their use and breaking them down for a good clean at least annually. I like having at least one new one that stays as a backup. I tend to use the same two at the range. I never buy aftermarket so i suggest you pay for the OEM mags even though they often cost more.

Re: Magazine Quantity Question
You have plenty of mags for basic home defense and target shooting. If you are expecting the world as we know it to go to hell anytime soon you may need more.

Re: Magazine Quantity Question
i pretty much consider anything over ten rounds a hi cap mag. mark my words if the current administration gets back in it will be no holds barred on restrictions. i do not much care if you have weapons that use hi caps or not. whatever you have you should stock up on. i packed away a bunch of 8 rounders for my 1911 guns just because. as far as useful life of a mag it depends on use and quality. my original mags for my glock 17 still work fine with over 20,000 rounds combined(two mags). yes we are talking a gen 1 bought in 86 when they first got imported.
