Suspect Sought In Frightening N.J. Home Invasion
WASHINGTON TWP, N.J. (CBS 3) ― Police in Gloucester County are searching for a suspect in a violent home invasion Tuesday.

A mother and her son were preparing to leave their Washington Township home when they were confronted by an armed suspect, authorities said.

"The armed subject was in the backseat of the vehicle. At that time he forced them back into the residence," said Deputy Chief John Dalesandro of the Washington Township Police Department.

Officers were notified of the incident after someone inside the home dialed 911 and hung up.

"The father of the residence opened the door, indicated that everything was OK. Officers, doing a very good job, were persisting, saying they want to speak to the entire family to make sure everything is fine in the home," Dalesandro said.

Authorities said the mother and children told the officers from a stairwell that there were no problems inside the home. Officers left the home, unaware there was a gunman inside. But 20 minutes later, they received a second 911 call.

Police said the suspect fled the home with a striped duffle bag containing approximately $40,000 in cash.

Investigators believe the incident was not random as the family owns Fiso's Lounge on South Street in Philadelphia.

The suspect has been described as a black male, 6'2" tall, 260 pounds and wearing all black clothing. He reportedly fled in a blue minivan.

This is why after a 911 call, or in my work a panic/duress call, the pd is supposed to ask the occupants to come out of the home and do a search. This seldom happens. Many times the police dispatcher will call the home and ask if every thing is ok and to please call the central monitoring station to cancel the alarm so they can continue drinking coffee.

Last year, I remember of two occasion where the police called homes and home owners where forced to call the central to cancel an alarm, on Panics, most centrals will cancel, on Duress they will not. In both cases I rememebr, the way we found out was the client called asking if they would have to pay for the ticket the police delivered the next day for what they claimed was a "false alarm", In a case in Pittsburgh, the lady lost her eye to the beating she recieved.

Thank God we pay for police protection, next time dial 1911 not 911!

and thank God we live in a free state that doesn't make is difficult to get a gun period, so that criminals like him will leave in a body bag instead of that blue minivan.
