Bought my first AK today...

I bought my first AK today. $469 out the door with 3 magazines, the accessories, and 100 rounds of Wolf ammo (and no cant or rust). I took some advice and went with a basic WASR, instead of the underfolder or others I looked at. I'll cut my teeth on this one for awhile, and then maybe I'll pick up a better quality AK (as I hear you can't just have one).

I did... it has positive lock up and just a little wobble, but it doesn't rattle.

Congrats! Welcome to the club. Nothing wrong with a WASR (Vickers was running one is the AK class a few months back)... Keep in mind that as they say "you can't have just one....." After you cut your teeth on the AK then check out the VZ58! It is also an excellent rifle! Best of luck with your new rifle.


Sadly I just sold a NIB Poly Legend U/F. It is the only firearm that I regret selling.

i really really like the romanians. once you play with that a bit, you'll probably see you don't need a more expensive ak.
these work just fine, and as surprising as this might sound, they are fairly accurate to boot.
alittle finish work on the wood and they get pretty handsome.
i'm a fan of just a bit* of sanding and then just clear shellac it.


*raise the grain once, maybe twice and call it good.
