    Default Another Biker question.

I just took the written test for a Motorcycle Learners Permit. I rode motorcycles in the past for over 25 years but gave it up. I am now buying a bike because of the gas prices.

What do you bikers do with your long guns on trips to the range? I don't recall seeing anyone riding down the road with their AK over their shoulders.

Can't you just strap them on your broom

Just kidding of course.........I am curious as to the answer to this as well

I would assume it would be best to take a vehicle to transport long guns, or have a friend transport them in their vehicle for you while you follow on your bike, all the while saving on gas

Ive never gone to the range with a long gun, while on my bike...why would you want to do that in the first place? Im not trying to be a jerk or anything, but it just does not make sense...

I've taken apart my shotgun and bungie strapped it along side the seat before. I know there has been talk of people thinking about slinging the ol' AR over their shoulders for a group shoot but were afraid of getting pulled over.

I don't know what i'm gonna do when I get the AR?

To save gas. I can't see me doing it but if there is a way and I can I would like to know. If no one can think of a way then only a few electrons were hurt in my asking on this board.

    Never tried it.

Personally, I'm more worried about ruining a very expensive firearm in a crash than I am getting locked up. However, an AR breaks down nicely and you can stick a sock over the exposed barrel.

I use to go to the trap range quite often on my bike back in Wisconsin. I had a hard case that I would strap on and away I went. I have seen others that strap on a soft case alongside and would hold it in place with their leg also. Not too comfortable but it worked.... but the hard case is the better way to go...

Good luck and drive and shoot safe....
