    Default Good 20" target upper?

My dad put an AR target upper on his Christmas list (he's been slooooowly building this AR for months now) and I'm thinking about getting it for him. He doesn't know specifics about the various brands so he didn't specify one, but he did say he wants an 8-1 twist and a 20" barrel.

    Suggestions anyone?

    I love this: http://www.whiteoakprecision.com/uppers-service.htm

Lycan recommended it to me for CMP shooting. It's 1:7.

    Thanks for the suggestions folks.

The white Oak stuff is definitely nice, but they weren't exactly able to get something out to me ASAP in time for Christmas. I ended up going with the RRA 20" A4 varmint upper instead. I got lucky and found one at AR15sales.com for a ridiculous good deal.

He should be pretty happy with that(at least I hope he is). It unlikely he'll be shooting at any distance other than 200 yards, which I would HOPE this upper will be up to the task of handling. *crosses fingers*

Man, Christmas is particularly rough on the budget this year. Now to finish up my sister's gifts. Oh man, someone shoot me please! (kidding! kidding! heh, bad thing to say on a gun forum)

It will run. The 1:8 will like the heavier/longer bullets.

I was thinking about buying a RRA Varmint upper from Legal Transfers as well. I already have a new B/BC so I was gonna call and see what the price is w/out it.

C.B., how much did that upper cost you shipped? I saw that they have that sale going until the end of the month.

Yepper, he's going to be using a heavier bullet, that's why he requested the 1:8 twist. A while ago he stumbled on a good deal on some 75 grain Black Hills ammo and bought what he could, which I guess explains why he's taken FOREVER to piece this rifle together.

The complete 20" A4 Varmint upper assembly was $535 with 3-day shipping, which is cheaper than what RRA themselves want for one.
