The military could save a lot of money on ammo if they found out you can shoot someone with an unloaded gun.

But we are the stupid ones for owning/carrying/not running from them.
I'm so fast, I can bump fire a bolt action.

I like to poke fun at idiocy just like most of us here, but honestly, I think she's referring to the number of times people said they thought the gun was unloaded and then proceeded to shoot someone.

How many times have we heard that story, a few dozen in the past few years?

Granted an unloaded gun won't shoot anyone, but an uneducated person such as this is only going to state what's she's heard in soundbites, not actual truth.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Point well taken. I did try to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I figured that she would have said "accidentally" during the statement if that is what she meant.

Context is everything. In this case she most likely meant one in the chamber but she's still an anti. A very merry unchristmas* to her .

    * for those of you who dont have kids, heres a musical reference.

That was my take on it as well. I've used that line in some form or another when teaching newbies. I use it to instill the rule that all guns must be treated as loaded even when we're sure there not. People have been shot with unloaded guns...well, that was what they thought before they pulled the trigger anyway.
    When the SHTF......be the fan.
