RT 33 CLOSED ALL DAY at Windgap!
Not sure if anyone on the east coast is driving today but Rt 33 south AND north will be closed ALL DAY (18 - 24 hours) due to a chemical spill at Wind Gap. Plan accordingly and take alternate routes.
http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbc.../NEWS/90321002The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Major evacuation is taking place. People within a ONE mile radius are being asked to leave. This includes parts of Wind Gap, Bushkill Twp and parts of Plainfiels Twp. Affected people are being asked to plan to being away from their homes for 12-24 hours. A shelter is in place at the Pen Argyl High School on Luarel Ave.

Sounds nasty, hopefully the tanker integrity is kept while they get it back on its "feet". Even the Philly news talked about it.
SOoooo... What is the legal obligation for compliance with the "request" to evacuate?? I have always wondered that.

As a member of the chemical industry, HF is one of the few things that really scares me. I have no problem wearing protection around chlorine, phosgene, or cyanide. But I won't go near HF.
Fortunately HF dissipates easily compared to the others. But it still scares the crap out of me.

Looks like an Air Products truck?
this is all over national news - FoxNews is running the story every 10 - 15 minutes, the trailer didn't rupture but they estimate its dripping at a rate of 1 drop / 10 - 15 seconds but they also believe the spill has now been contained.Last edited by Dredly; March 21st, 2009 at 03:10 PM.
