45acp loading questions
I see in my Hornady book that the printed diameter is .451. I have also read that the .452 bullet can be used. I am wondering if anybody has tried using a load like this?
.452 Hornady hp xtp 300 grain bullet With somewhere around 5 grains of tite group powder.
If so what load did you find worked out for you?

Re: 45acp loading questions
The standard land diameter for the .45 ACP is .451" and that is the diameter of most jacketed bullets. The standard groove diameter is .452" and that is the diameter of most cast/swaged lead bullets. BTW Sierra says their jacketed bullets are .4515".
I have never seen a load for a 300 gr. bullet of any flavor, with any powder for .45 ACP. But I have seen the 300 gr bullet used for .45 Colt, & .454 Casull.

Re: 45acp loading questions
Probably not a good idea for this cartridge. You're best off sticking with a .451 jacketed bullet.

Unless you plan to use those 300 gr bricks to scare off charging Rhinos or something . I too have never heard of a 300 gr bullet in a .45ACP.

Re: 45acp loading questions
I got the .452 bullets for my 450 bushmaster load. I thought it may be a cool load for shooting pumpkins or something. One thing I did see is the 300 grain bullet is alot longer than the 230 grain .451 bullet hornady lists in there reloading book so It may not work for the 45acp.
