AR-15 stock: Magpul CTR vs MOE
Does anyone know the difference between Magpul's CTR stock and the MOE stock? I'm getting a parts list for my first AR build and am looking at what stock I want. I want to keep it simple, so the CTR / MOE is leading the pack. The VLTOR EMOD stock is next since I have it on my other AR, and like it very much. It'd also be nice to have commonality between my rifles, but I'm just not sure yet. Want to keep it as light and simple as possible. Thanks!

Re: AR-15 stock: Magpul CTR vs MOE
The MOE is a standard carbine stock much like your EMOD, but with less frills. The CTR includes a friction lock so that once the stock is in the desired position it locks down solid to where it almost feels like a fixed stock. No wobble, no play, just rock solid lock up.
What you need to do if you like the EMOD, is skip the MOE and the CTR and get the Magpul ACS. It combines the friction lock of the CTR with some of the look and feel of the EMOD.
But either way, the friction lock is worth the extra bucks.
(I have the CTR.)

and in other words, the moe is just a regular car stock that aesthetically resembles a ctr.
imo, not worth getting. unless your rifle has no stock. and it's really, really cheap.

I have a Magpul CTR and an MOE on two different AR's. I like the CTR much better.

Re: AR-15 stock: Magpul CTR vs MOE
Sounds good, guys. I think it's down to the CTR and EMOD.
I may have to wait for a gun show to come around and see if I can find an ACS to see if I like it....but I know the CTR is okay, and I do like the EMOD. The only thing I don't like about the magpul stocks is that there's no sling attachment point on the top rear of the stock for my VTAC 2 point sling. We'll see what happens BIG HELP!

Re: AR-15 stock: Magpul CTR vs MOE
Last week I replaced my wobbly stock standard M4gery stock with the Magpul CTR. The CTR does not wobble. AIM Surplus had them for the same price as everyone else but they have "penny shipping". I also got the QD sling swivel there too (again with $.01 shipping)
