LOADED GUNS IN SAFE ?
Who does this practice apply to ? Went to a private sale today the owner opens the safe and says they are loaded ! I say which ones ? and he says all of them ! Well he was not displaying 3-4 firearms but a total of 18 handguns and 6 rifle & shotguns caliber ranging from 17hmr all the way up to a 35 whalen ! I choose to look at one firearm at a time being saftey conscious and the owner said I dont know how many rounds in the magazines ? he average 4 to 12 which was not full capacity on the firearms, just randomly loaded with leftovers.I did un load eventually all of the firearms and said all you need is one I choose his S&W model 10 NYPD oldie. Just my opinion is you do not need all your firearms in the safe loaded, thats a recipe for disaster ! JMO/MDT

Mine I have in the closet, and around the entire house.
The majority of them are loaded. I live alone though.

Zero loaded firearms in safes, however, several loaded mags on a shelf in one safe.

Re: LOADED GUNS IN SAFE ?
My home defense weapons are kept loaded and secured in various spots around the house. My C&R and collection firearms are not simply because I have way too many to keep tabs of and people often want to see and handle them. It would be a very bad idea to starting handing people loaded weapons especially ones you do not plan to shoot often if ever.

I agree that an entire safe shouldn't be loaded, what's the point anyway. You'll only grab 1-2 max in a defensive situation.
Only a small percentage of my collection is loaded.

Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: LOADED GUNS IN SAFE ?
I honestly do not see what the issue is. If they are all loaded in the safe, so what, as long as they are secure either in a holster or a case. They are in the safe!
Is that you talking Obama? The USA is now a banana republic. Only without the bananas....or the Republic.

Re: LOADED GUNS IN SAFE ?
Loaded sitting idle in the safe, OK. Having a sale and the guns being viewed or handled? They should have all been unloaded and lined up for the owner to show you individually like any gun shop would. Clear them and look them over.

Re: LOADED GUNS IN SAFE ?
All of my pistols are stored loaded (+1). Long guns are empty but full magazines (for everything that has a detachable mag) are in the safe too.
