Flight sticks for sims, or trackball for everything else. Trackball is the best controller I have ever found. Sorry!

If it's a FPS (first person shooter) you have to use a keyboard and mouse. The accuracy of a mouse if much better than a controller IMO. It's a mouse for me.

don't know if this works or not but with Windows you can download the driver for xbox controllers. after my xbox360 was stolen they left the guitar hero controller (it was in another room) and i found a program that was essentially free guitar hero, plus you could make your own songs. The controller worked well with my PC but iffy with my mac, but it was 2 different versions of the software.

if you have one or can get a hold of one to test it i think it will auto find the driver for it (xp and up) or you can find them online. sorry, no experience with any other usb controllers.

    You can use a controller.
Logitech makes a lot of different models wired or wireless.
There are cheaper brands but you get what you pay for.

But as said for FPS nothing beats a mouse and keyboard.
Here is a USB wired controller from best buy.

Another vote for mouse and keyboard. The accuracy just cannot be beat.

+1 to using a 360 controller. They are by far the best controllers you can get for any kind of shooter. Keyboard may be more precise for the pixel hunters, but for a controller, you can't beat the 360 controller, and the ergonomics are nearly perfect. Everything is where you'd think it should be, the offset analog sticks with the easy to reach d-pad and buttons couldn't be more correct either.

Yeah, Im with you here. I think that for me K/M only really matters so much for sniping..I don't notice a difference in performance for regular guns, especially in say - COD. Aiming down the sights and getting all shots on target is more intuitive for me on the controller than with K/M.

Personal preferences guys, no need to declare a real winner unless you're saying what works for you.
