LTCF/CCW in Delaware?
I work in Delaware but live in PA and was wondering how to go about getting a LTCF or CCW in Delaware. I did an internet search that kept coming up with Delaware County PA and didn't find much else.
If anyone here had a LTCF in DE or knows how about going to get one I'd greatly appreciate it.

Re: LTCF/CCW in Delaware?
I work in Wilmington and got a FL non resident permit, but will get a utah permit before the FL expires, the Utah costs less and has reciprocity with Nevada.
Get a Utah or Florida non resident permit. They are attainable, a DE permit is "difficult" to get.
see here for Delaware Permit Process http://www.ehow.com/how_2064599_get-...ed-weapon.html
Utah http://www.des.utah.gov/bci/concealedfirearms.html
Training classes are listed in the training section of PAFOA
Florida http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/app...structions.pdfOf every one hundred men in battle, ten should not even be there. Eighty, are nothing but targets. Nine are the real fighters, we are lucky to have them since they make the battle. Ah, but the one—one is the Warrior—and he brings the others home. —Heracletus

Re: LTCF/CCW in Delaware?
Here's a link to a page with a pdf file on Delaware Firearm laws:

I too, work in Delaware once a week, and I carry with a Utah CWP. If I remember correctly Delaware does not issue non resident permits, and getting a resident permit is very difficult with all the hoops they make ya jump thru.
In fact it's easier for me as a non resident to be able to carry on a reciprocal permit than a Delaware resident getting a home state permit. Resident's of Delaware are not allowed to carry on a non-resident permit from another state.

Re: LTCF/CCW in Delaware?
Thanks for the replies.
I'm mostly in Newark and sometimes in Wilmington.
Soberbyker, from what I gather from that PDF file is that I can't carry concealed in either city or am I not reading it right?

Re: LTCF/CCW in Delaware?
I'm not sure, some parts of that paper seem to say there is state premption. Try sending PM to http://forum.pafoa.org/members/wynder/ and ask him. If you get an answer please post the info here, thanks.

Re: LTCF/CCW in Delaware?
I am member of DELOC, I carry in Delaware all the time we have several members from out of state including me, I carry on Res Fla permit, some have Utah or they open carry
I too visit Nevada every year ( I have a office there ) florida is good there
and florida just increased the renewal time from 5 years to 7 years at no extra cost. Utah non res permit is no good in Florida, your pa LTCF permit is
I really need oregon (nobody offers that)

Re: LTCF/CCW in Delaware?
If you want to carry concealed in DE the FL or UT permits will work. The PA LTCF isn't accepted and you can't get a DE non resident CCDW. There are other states that DE recognizes as good to carry under. Just get a license from one of the states listed in the following link.
http://attorneygeneral.delaware.gov/...dweapons.shtml
Of course you could open carry, even in your car without any licenses. Just put the gun on the passenger seat or dashboard and your good to go. Just stay out of Dover if openly carrying.

If you have a license from one of the states that DE has reciprocity with you can carry concealed anywhere in the state, that includes Wilmington, Newark and Dover.Last edited by stephpd; January 15th, 2009 at 10:15 PM.

Re: LTCF/CCW in Delaware?
Thanks for clearing that up, the law seemed to say those cities were grandfathered in before preemption.

"getting a resident permit is very difficult with all the hoops they make ya jump thru."
The only additional requirement over Utah or Florida is that you have to go talk to a judge (rather than a CLEO). The hearings are no big deal from the few I watched when I was in the building. Targetmaster in PA has Delaware classes.
But you can't get a Delaware permit if you are from outside of Delaware, so get Utah. The above is not legal advice and is for discussion purposes only. Do not rely on anything posted. If you have a legal question, retain a lawyer.
