Default I need a suggestion for Duty Boots

My part time position as Safety and Security for a local College has been upgraded from Special Events to Street Duty.

I need to wear "tactical boots" per department dress code. Two of the officers rave about Magnums. I've seen them for around $80.

I will be walking around campus (sidewalks and grass) for about 6 hours of an 8 hour shift. So comfortable boots is my number one priority. They also have to be all black.

Does anyone have an opinion on Magnums? Or can anyone suggest another brand. Please keep it in the same price range or less.

Magnums are ok; I have a pair of them, but I personally consider them a low-cost option a little lower on the quality scale. Go to any board that has a number of LEOs on it and they'll pretty much all say Danner is a better boot.

If you know your size, you can get the occasional amazing deal at Galls or Botach (I got Danners at 1/2 off that way).

I have read on some Police forums that the biggest complaint sems to be soles wearing out quickly. I am not too concerned with this, simply because an LEO uses his boots 365 more or less. I will probably work between 40-50 hours a month, so it would take me 3 or 4 years to put as many "miles" on my boots as a full time officer does in one year.

Being in Gettysburg just take a ride down to super shoe in chambersburg and ask what all the Pa state police buy, cause that's where they all get theirs.....but most go with either the Corcoran or Matterhorn boots.

Even at that, better footware (for someone on his feet for a living) is something not to scrimp (too much) on.

How true, I stand on concrete all day,and have to wear steel toes, and let me tell ya, what a huge difference between a el cheapo pair and a good pair......I'll gladly pay the extra few $$ for boots that have good soles and will last....

    http://www.botac.com/focl.html

its hit or miss with these guys (lousy customer service, getting sent a similar product, etc.)...buyer beware...but you can get some good deals if you want to give it a shot...i like the bates boots, and i didn't have any problem myself with botach...but i've heard lots of horror stories...
