Default Trip to VA. Can I carry?

OK, going to Scottsville VA next week. Trip will be 95% on rt 81. Can I carry without grief, or should I leave it home? One day trip.

    Thanks.

Comply with FOPA while passing through MD, which will be brief. Brush up on laws regarding establishments that serve alcohol and visit/consume accordingly (I don't recall the current specifics myself right now).

There is no more law concerning establishments with alcohol. You just can't consume alcohol while carrying. So you can go into any bar you want, you just cant drink alcohol while doing it.

I'm not seeing the difference between these two sections:

    B. (Effective until July 1, 2018) No person who carries a concealed handgun onto the premises of any restaurant or club as defined in § 4.1-100 for which a license to sell and serve alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption has been granted by the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board under Title 4.1 may consume an alcoholic beverage while on the premises. A person who carries a concealed handgun onto the premises of such a restaurant or club and consumes alcoholic beverages is guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. However, nothing in this subsection shall apply to a federal, state, or local law-enforcement officer.

The old law stated you could not go into any establishment that had alcohol carrying a firearm. This was the law prior to 2010. That is what I thought the second post was referring to as laws with dealing with alcohol. Also, just me, but I would not open carry and drink alcohol. I have lived down here 11 years. You still have your law enforcement that do not care which one you are doing, there view is you do not drink while carrying a firearm.
