Applied for my LTCF today
Well, I finally made the decision to apply for my LTCF today and dropped it off at the Dauphin County Courthouse. Does anyone know how long it typically takes? I know it can't be longer than 45 days by law but when I asked the deputy he just said "a few weeks". Also, I only checked the "self defense" box for the reason. Should I have checked multiple boxes? I'm an avid outdoorsman and target shoot pretty often but the main reason for applying is self defense. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Lancaster county took 40 days.
I hear that is pretty common for them to use all the time they have to use here.
It varries county to county though.
A buddy of mine got his in Chester county in about 45 minutes.

Damn, 15 minutes!? I did get a little excited when the deputy asked me to take a seat for my picture but then he said they would call when it was ready. Looked like they had a pretty large stack of applications.

Re: Applied for my LTCF today
It really depends on the county and the Sheriff's view on the right of the citizens to carry. The background check doesn't take any more than 15 minutes or so and I've yet to hear of a person having their references checked (I'm sure it happens, but I've never heard of it).
Lehigh county could give them out in 15 minutes I think - I mean they take the photo digitally and they enter all my information when I make the application and they have a machine that spits out the laminated cards. But they make you wait.

Lackawanna County (xdm9mm's neighboring county) also takes about 15-20 minutes.

First off, Semper Fi brother.
As far as Dauphin County goes, I got mine a couple months ago. It took about 5-6 weeks from the day I dropped off the application.
