Price of old WW2 Rifle?
M1903 Springfield is what I think it is.
My friend said he just uncovered an old rifle, and asked his grandmother who said it was his grandfathers. He fought with it in WW2. I havent had a chance to go over there and take a look at it but he said its bolt action. The springfield is the only bolt action american rifle i can think of. If this thing is in good condition how much would it sell for?
I myself would keep it, but he's not into that kind of thing. He plans on using the funds for a modern rifle.

Re: Price of old WW2 Rifle?
Could be an M1917 Enfield as well. Some of those rifles were used in the sniper role in WWII. Let us know what the man has.
If it is a 1903, expect to pay minimum $500.00 for it. I say bare minimum, probably much higher.
Personally I think your buddy is a moron to get rid of the gun. Especially if its a family heirloom.

Re: Price of old WW2 Rifle?
If it's a 1903 Springfield, check for what people are paying on www.gunbroker.com
Worth is what people are willing to pay, not what some book says. I will say that 1903's are tough to find so collectors will most likely pay a pretty penny for it. It's American, hard to find now, and if it's been sitting in someone's house, there is a good chance it's not bubbarized.
Good luck and keep us posted. I was looking for a 1903 a while back. I'm no longer buying old bolts but I'm sure you will find a buyer."The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

Your friends obviously an idiot. He should keep it, look for old photos or other paperwork relating it to his grandfather. Then treasure it. Talk him out of it, and if he can't be, buy for yourself... granted its in decent shape.
I could find it a home perhaps if need be"Unus ut caput capitis"

Re: Price of old WW2 Rifle?
For anyone looking for an 03a3 lemme know.
I was giving my dealer a hand in the shop today as he's been backed up and we're pretty good friends and I told him if I saw anything that people like me would like I would get the word out.
I found in the one safe an 03a3 that has been slightly sporterized (stock was cut down just a little - but thats it. That he said he would let go for 595 - includes cmp/dcm leather sling as well. We can ship or you can come into the shop.
and your buddy should keep it, no doubt.

We'll see. He's looking for a 30/30 so if anyone's interested in a trade I'll let him know. I'll try and talk him into keeping it.
