Anybody own their "dream" rifle?
I feel fortunate to have a good collection of firearms.
I have my "dream" (ultimate) rifle in a SAKO Finnlight 6.5 X 55 topped with a Leupold VX-II ultra-light compact 3X9X33. It is all the gun and scope that I need and want.
I know I could pay much more and get a custom rifle in an exotic caliber, but I am satisfied beyond belief.
Anyone else currently own his/her dream rifle?
If you are smarter than me maybe you can put up a pic?

Is there room for more??Man will not be truly free until the last politician is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.

I don't have my "dream rifle", but my K31 shoots like a dream. Best $171.00 I ever spent.

Re: Anybody own their "dream" rifle?
It's a work in progess. I bought a Springfield SOCOM II that I converted to a SOCOM 16 see here and I want to get one of theseto replace the standard stock, I think I'm going to get it duracoarted in a black and gray tiger stripe just for something new. I'm still deciding on optics, I'd eventually like to get an ACOG with the .308 reticle, but I'll probably be getting an Aimpoint to hold me over untill then.
I just added a new sling mount that I got from Fulton Armory, for mounting a Harris bipod when needed.
Like I said it's a work in progress, and while it may not have the range it is still pretty damn cool."We shoot to stop. ... Unfortunately, death can be a byproduct."

As above, it's a work in progress. My M1A is my dream rifle, I just need the proper scope and stock for it, and it'll be perfect.

Re: Anybody own their "dream" rifle?
The one that evokes the greatest emotion for me is my old, original .22 - a Winchester lever-action made for Sears with a cheap scope on it. I got that when I was 10 and went to a gun show at the old Elks lodge in Easton with my dad. It still shoots like a champ.
My M1 Garand reminds me of the sacrifice of those who fought in WWII, as does my M1 carbine. I just bought my son a Garand for his birthday - he spent last night cleaning it and getting the feel of it.
I've got the urge to buy a few more representative M1 carbines. I'll pick up an Inland when CMP puts them on sale this month but will start hitting some gun shops and shows to look for some as well. With all the manufacturers of carbines, I'd love to have some from the more interesting companies like IBM and Rock-Ola.

Re: Anybody own their "dream" rifle?
I would love to own a Garand, and I handled a very nice Mauser at a local store this weekend. Unfortunately though, I don't know how safe they are to shoot, and where I'd get replacement barrels, receivers, parts of the stock, etc if they need replacement. I'm certainly no gunsmith.
The other problem with the Garand is I believe the round is not suitable for home defense. Too much penetration potential, if my understanding is correct.

Edit: On topic, my dream rifle would be a pristine Garand or a high end Steyr bolt-action. H&K makes some great stuff, I like the FN P90, but none of it is legal in California.
