Looking for entry level 1911
I am looking for opinions on an entry level 1911 type .45acp. I am not looking for anything "pretty" as I am used to a gov't issue Remington Rand sidearm. The only option I would like are Novak sights if possible, but not critical. I am currently looking at a SA GI 45 and a SA Mil-spec 45, but now got sidetracked by the S&W 1911. Can someone decide for me? Thanks

Re: Looking for entry level 1911
That is a good question. What I have been looking at so far is running around $600. I cant justify spending $1200 on a Kimber as I will be spending that much on ammo.

Some excellent bang for the buck. Around 700 bucks. Springfield Mil Spec Loaded PX9109LP comes with a loaded coupon too.

Re: Looking for entry level 1911
For $600 checkout the Taurus PT1911, or the Rock Island Armory Tactical model. Both have a lot of the bells and whistles and don't cost much. RIA about $450, Taurus about $550. I have both and both have not given me any problems and both shoot better than I can hold.

Re: Looking for entry level 1911
The big 3 are the Taurus PT1911. Rock Island and the Springfield GI...I think the Taurus has more bang for the buck though (added features)
I wouldn't hesitate to purchase any one of those three, though!

I have a taurus 1911 and the father in law has RIA. I have shot both. I like the feel of my taurus and shoot better with(because thats what I am used to) but his shots well too.
