Anyone denied for not following a Sheriff's illegal laws?
Curious here
Can anyone name a single person that was denied for the specific reason of:
1. References from outside county
2. Refused police check card
3. Refused to pay more than 20
4. Refused fingerprints
5. Refused interview
6. Refused paying parking tickets
What did it say on your denial letter?
I hear this excuse all the time. Is it based on factual events of a previous applicant or just something that was manifested by people
I have a very hard time believing a person would be denied for the above and if the denial letter actually said one of the above reasons, donations for the lawsuit would be flying in at warp speed
So unless people are actually getting denied, stop using it as an excuse
What we ALLOW to happen, WILL become the reality
Frankly... I think you guys are creating a boogie manLast edited by BimmerJon; June 17th, 2013 at 12:41 AM.

Re: Anyone denied for not following a Sheriff's illegal laws?
Sheriff Martin in Monroe did not deny a friend but refused to use his out of county references. He received a letter in the mail stating something about the references being out of county and he needs to provide new ones in order to continue the process. My friend just gave him 2 in county as it was a lot easier then a law suit.
I get it only happens if we allow it but to mean it seems a minor inconvenience. Only needs to dealt with every 5 years.

Can you obtain the letter that was sent to your friend?

And then also there is the denial to accept the application, which of course is not a legal denial to issue a LTCF.

This is what they do. They do it in Philly a lot. A lot of people have posted here saying the relevant authority refused to process their application.
If the OP wants examples you will need serious search skills, but there are a lot of them. Remember to search General Forum as well, since almost everything got dumped there a few years ago.

By the way, people are indeed also DENIED in Philly.
This form has a list of reasons Philly might choose to deny you:

Where have you been that you haven't seen all the people having problems with having to appeal denials in Philly or having licensing authorities refuse to accept applications?
Then you come here and ask us to use the search function on your behalf

Was burned a while back.
I have heard of him not accepting apps for out of county references. The rude girl working at their counter did ask if my references were in county and then said if they were not she could not take my application. I didn't say anything and just handed it to her.

Re: Anyone denied for not following a Sheriff's illegal laws?
When I was new to the PA firearms legal scene and not as familiar with the laws, I opted to apply to another county (Susquehanna instead of Bradford) because I was told my references had to be within the county.
I have heard that Susquehanna has since taken the position that they will no longer issue non-resident LTCFs.
I have decided that come renewal time, if they are still holding that position, I will fight it rather than find a more friendly county. I don't want PA to turn into southern NY.
