I just got "the look"....

I just made a quick run to WaWa for some odds and ends. There happened to be a Fountain Hill PD cruiser in the parking lot. I was carrying my new Sccy 9mm OWB. I got this pistol for those times where CC would be in my best interest. I CC'd it all day today. When I went to the store, I went OC, well just because. The LEO noticed right away.

FHPD: Excuse me sir, you're hanging out. [nodding towards my right hip]
Me: I know, but thank you.

The LEO looked at me, down at my hip, up at me, down at my hip and went on about his business. As he was walking away, he looked back at me and just gave me "the look". You guys know the look I am talking about. The confused angry look, like he knew what I was doing was legal, but he didn't like it.

You should have said right back: "Excuse me, officer, but I would feel better if you covered that thing up. The sight of those things tend to scare people." Then you should have looked at him, then down at his hip, then up at him, and down at his hip again and gave him "that look." After all, a gun's a gun. Why should it make any difference if it's on his hip or yours?

Good stuff... Seems line a non-issue to me.

But, remember: Every time we have an OC encounter like this one, it's one more "good" encounter for the police as well. Hopefully he mentioned to his cohorts that you were a decent guy and the encounter was positive for him as well. That's why we should be polite and courteous until they are not.

But, remember: Every time we have an OC encounter like this one, it's one more "good" encounter for the police as well. Hopefully he mentioned to his cohorts that you were a decent guy and the encounter was positive for him as well. That's why we should be polite and courteous until they are not.
