Default Are you still shooting your .223/5.56 guns?

yeah so since prices are insane $9.99 for 20 winchester white box 223 and 8.39 at walmart for Remington umc. Are you people still shooting your .223s?

i love shooting my ARs but at between $5.00 - 30.00 it load a 30 round mag sucks ass. especially when you have over 20 mags

i know the price of raw materials is up i can deal with that and if these dam dealers were selling new ammo id pay. but these people that have had ammo sitting around in there shop for years wanting top dollar is bullshit! and i for one am sick of it.

i saw a case of lacquer cased wolf for $200.00 WTF wolf doesnt even make that crap because of all the problems it caused. Surplus ammo from the 70's selling for like $300 per K is BULLSHIT!

id pay 300 for some bulk 06 headstamp but anything from before 05 im not buying it.

the crazyness is people are buyin this stuff up like they arnt making anymore

    It's all about the AK.

I can get 1K rounds for cheap.

I like .308 but now can't afford to shoot it at all, at $500/case for milsurp. My M1As sit, virtually dry-docked.

.223 is getting to be the same way. Even though I value caliber commonality, I think it's good to be flexible, and find a caliber/platform combo that's affordable to train in and practice.

At this moment the 7.62x39 is the cheapest military style caliber you can still afford to shoot. You can get Wolf at $160/case without much effort at all; I recently loaded up on 5 cases at this price.

Never had a problem with Wolf in .223 .308 or 7.62x39. The AK I sold over the summer was about 10K rounds deep and it was flawless.

I don't mind buying the cheap Russian stuff as it has always worked fine for me. Not as accurate but still.

    In the bunker I have
I have 1440 rounds of Guat .223, 980 rounds of SA .308, 800 rounds of Argentinian 7.62x39. That ammo isn't being touched unless WWIII occurs.

Yes since I have a Dillon 550 progressive reloading press. Cost runs around 23-24 cents a loaded round. I can reload a box of 50 for $11.75 or buy box of 50 Black Hills reloads for $24 or for $479 per case of a 1000 from a source I have.
I have no idea why anyone would not reload when loaded ammunition is getting so expensive.

I just bought my first AR I'm shooting it. but I "roll my own" so cost is not as bad. My local dealer is having difficulty locating 55gr FMJ bullets. Seems it wasn't too long ago I saw them for around $6 per hundred and there was no problem getting them.

Ditto, with my better .308 and .223. My game plan is to keep a lifetime supply hoarded away, and train with whatever I can buy, which nowadays is 7.62x39 and whatever plinking .223 is on sale.
