Hakim pics
Hey everyone I found a Hakim Yesterday the dealer disclosed a problem to me when the top cover is pulled back to cock the rifle it releases the bolt too soon before it reaches back far enough to chamber a round
I was able to apply pressure downward on the cover to hold the bolt long enough to catch a round, he says it's the bolt release spring loaded catch in the rear of the cover and that the spring is too week to hold the bolt back he also said it will cycle fine once it is fired but can't chamber a round without some creative help
where and or how can I fix this any help is much appreciated, it is a 1969 # 511xx
I grossly over exposed the last picture to show a spring that doesn't seem to do any thing

Re: Hakim pics
Update while I'm trying to find a fix to this it turns out that the dealer recorded the serial # wrong it is inscribed in English translation correctly but the paper work and receipt is wrong first # should be a 5 but he has it as a 0
my question is as far as ATF or in the event I sell it or any other foreseeable problems is he obligated to change it? he said he won't but I sent him a hi res picture of it and asked for a corrected receipt I really appreciate some advise on this thanks

Re: Hakim pics
This isn't an NFA gun; he can edit his bound book and the 4473 and your receipt. He's just being lazy or uninformed or both.
His BB and 4473 don't go to the feds until he leaves the business.
And if he is audited, a pen/ink correction and matching 4473 is no big deal. For crying out loud - I bought an NFA gun and half the form 4 was whited out by the seller.
Anyway, nice Hakim; been tempted to sell mine from time to time, but reality always comes back - they're great sleepers and keepers.

Re: Hakim pics
He emailed me back after seeing the picture and said he will edit his records and for me to edit my copy of receipt, he didn't offer to mail copies and told me to keep the email and receipt, is this good enough?

Re: Hakim pics
That sounds like a plan. The way the "USA" S/Ns were electropenciled on the guns - it wasn't easy. Look for the secret Hakim decoder ring on the 'net to get the Arabic S/N translated.
Never had a prob with my Hakim, if you are new to these guns - just remember that ear protection is critical with the amount of blast from the muzzle break.

Re: Hakim pics
Out of curiousity, how much did you pay for this rifle? I remember when Hakims were $80 apiece at Don's Guns and Edelman's on 309. I still kick myself for not purchasing one.

Re: Hakim pics
Nice rifle, but that is the least of my worries.... The Lion that is eating those bones in the background, is what frightens me....LOL

Re: Hakim pics
I noticed that too!
May just be the best reason to own a Hakim!
And to the OP; your $550.00 is right in the market these days 'cause if you think about it:
How many big-bore semi-autos are out there to choose from?
FN49's have gone way up, G43s are collectibles, the Tovarevs have become collectibles, and the AK-based 7.62x54 guns have been swept up in the ban-prep buying spree.
The plentiful Garands are now the cheapest.
