Default Dillon Square deal B question

I have a line on one used fro $275. 20 years old in good shape. It is set up for 45 caliber. I would need to set it up for 9mm. Given the lead times on reloaders and hard to find ammo, is this a smart move if I need conversion to 9MM? It loosk like conversion is $90. A new one goes for $400.

    Thanks

The price is almost a wash...and their "No BS" warranty means it will still be under warranty for you...the big question is how long will it take to get the conversion kit parts. If the lead time for them is the same as the lead time for a new press then I'd be tempted to get the shiny new one, given that you're only saving about $30 over price new.

EDIT: Of course, if you think you'll ever load in .45 then you'd be ahead if you take the deal on the used one.

    Regards,

Have you done any research on that press. It is one of the few presses out there that does not use standard dies. By that I mean, Dillon produces a die specific to that unit.

Other than that, hey it's a Dillon.

Actually I have. I do not "at this time" see me loading anything but pistol, and not 45 ACP which comes with it. Dies are proprietary to this machine as you say. Actually the seller contacted me and said it would cost me $150 to change it to 9mm and then I would have to get rid of the 45 cal dies myself. An honest man. Also - i wanted a used one to get one NOW but 9 mm dies may be hard to get too.

Guess I will just order a new one and wait. Other choice was actually a hornady Lock and Load but they are way back ordered too. But - use regular dies. Ony reloading I have done is shotshell, and metal looks easier. Wads are a pain....

My 9mm dies from dillon for my SDB came in about 2 weeks. Just got them a couple of days ago. I would not hesitate to buy a used dillon. They stand behind their no BS warranty. I know, i used it. You are eventually going to need those 45 dies. This hobby is very addicting

Not to mention "getting rid of" the .45 conversion consists of placing an ad for ~$50 bucks here and putting a box in the mail when your money order comes.

    Not making this easy!!!

REALLY want a Hornady Lock and Load Progressive but they are out of May to get one.. They do not show up used... Well... It is sold.. I snoozed - I lose. I better just get in line for the Hornady and wait. Thanks, all.

If your thinking about plunking down money on a press, make sure you can get the tips, and primers... powder isnt as hard to find, but tips/primers are real hard to come by...

switching out the dies/primer tube isnt that hard to convert over from 45...

    good luck

    Sounds like a good price.
I just got a used one for $350.
It was set up with .38 and also included the dies for .45 as well as the spare parts kit and some other goodies I still haven't figured out.

Extra caliber is $86, extra tool head is $32. The powder thing is 99, but I would just use the same one.
