Why isn't there a tacked thread...how to get LCTF?

I will likely be obtaining my PA License shortly. Had a VA license years ago (went through the class, applied, got the license given by the court), went to school in IL (no CCW). Have been here for a while, and would like to get one...however, all I can tell is that I have to go to the Sheriff's dept for the county and apply?

Fee?
Time?

And then it varies by the Sheriff's mood, what's on television, the position of the stars...

As Aran mentioned go here: http://www.pafoa.org/counties/ then click on the name of the county you reside in, you'll find what you need there.

Good points. Thanks...I'll ask over there.

Real shame there isn't a STATE wide way to do it (in VA it was through the local Court, but it used a standardized form, given to the local PD/Sheriff).

If I move (as I anticipate in 6 months), will I need a new permit for the new county, or is it good until it expires?

(Moving to York area--not sure exactly where yet).

your permit will be good until it expires, but its always good to check with your local Sheriff to see what thier policy is.

as for the "Sticky", as each county has its own fees/process, as others pointed out, hit the counties thread.
