Re: One for the good guys
The newspaper noted that Officer Jason Bockting, in his documentation of the incident, said when the suspect seemed to hesitate, "Merrell racked the slide on his gun to load a round in the chamber."Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.

Re: One for the good guys
I have read on this forum several times where people say they don't feel comfortable carrying a handgun with one in the chamber. Maybe that is the case of this fellow also. AT LEAST he had the mindset to realize he needed to make the gun ready to fire once he pulled it. There is no mention of the span of time between the presentation of the firearm vs. when the gun was made ready to fire, other than to say when the suspect seemed to hesitate. (just my two cents)

Re: One for the good guys
Loaded, cocked and locked is the only way to carry IMO.
Apparently the BG was preoccupied with his robbery and luckily the GG had the cover of his distraction to ready his weapon. I sure wouldn't want to count on that; if the BG had the gun pulled on him (which is the idea of carrying) he would have been dead.

Re: One for the good guys
Nah, had to be unloaded because he couldn't afford to buy the ammo for it.
That was probably why he was robbing the store in the first place, so he could defend his ailing grandmother from the bad guys on the street where he lives....
