range experience
I enjoy inviting people who have never shot before to private club ranges. All ages and sexes. I supply the ammo, guns, etc... Its on me. Recently I invited a much younger cousin, 30 something, to go shooting at such facility. Just so she had company, I told her that she could invite a friend. They both were blessed with good looks to say the least.
It was a weekend and I expected some curiosity from the fellow firing line shooters on that day. I have shot next to strangers that were drop dead pretty and there would always be some "attention" given to the subject. I am no stranger to range visits and the myriad of different people that visit.
Well as it turned out, they were fast learners and quite proficient shooting at number of types of handguns. Even preferring a 357 to a 22. What wasn't pleasant was the number of onlookers hanging around the lane even down to a few approaching giving some unsolicited advise. My guests felt uneasy, and I didn't waste time telling the "instructors" that they were doing fine even though their stance and grip may not what they agreed with. If my guests were uglier than a muddy stick, no attention would be given, this I am sure. Well, I apologized for the clowns and we had a good time anyway. Whether or not they take up the shooting sports, I am certain they will not forget the experience, be it both good and bad.
Any one else with range trip war stories that may or not be related to mine?

I'm an amateur magician. I invite beautiful women to go shooting, then I turn into a motel.

Re: range experience
I think the very first three post prove the OP point perfectly.
PMSC the club I belong to has a bunch of smaller bays for pistol shooting in addition to a steel range (currently closed). You can normally get one to yourself so that has never been much of a problem. Then again the only attractive female I have taken shooting was my wife."No, it's just a machine. Re: range experience
I can't add any entertaining range stories but want to give props to the OP (and anyone else who has) for getting new shooters to the range. This is so important to do.

Agreed.
The two biggest things I do to support 2A issues are communicating with our elected representatives and engaging new shooters.
I find most forms of public activism or education are barely worth their efforts. Especially when it boils down to the type of hash-tag/bumper-sticker slogans that people like to bleat out like sheep.
Typing out "FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS" on the internet is not getting anybody anywhere."No, it's just a machine. I'm the weapon." - Jack Harper in Oblivion

Re: range experience
Most likely the two most effective things to do. Holding our elected officials to the fire, and doing what we can to grow the ranks.
My goal in taking a new shooter to the range is mainly to let them see that guns aren't the evil things they've heard they are. That and hopefully remove one possible anti gun person from the opposition's ranks.
If they embrace the sport and continue shooting it's a plus plus.Socialism is for the people, not the socialists - Andrew Wilkow

Re: range experience
My wife is a fairly active shooter and most of her guns are pink. We would go to the range and others would gawk or make comments about her 1 being a girl (her attire usually didnt help) and 2 having pink guns. Her shooting has always spoken for her and she now generally gets left alone. She always understood she was a "minority" in the shooting sports and never cared too much. Usually ended up having a good laugh at how she out shot the others.
You may find me dead in a ditch one day. But by God, I'll be lying in a pile of brass.

Re: range experience
Yea right dog, if your expecting me to post their pictures on an open forum., then it did not happen. Even if I chose to post pictures, I would not want to give the horny raxar a stroke in his seedy motel room, nor cause the would be magician "bang" to conjure up some sort of perverted fantasy.
I am much too old to manufacture stories, I'll leave that up to the youngsters who still feel a need to impress people. Me, I don't give a crap, it is a written experience I chose to share.....take it or leave it.
There is part of me that did not want to even respond to the above being xp summed everything up quite nicely.
