where to go?
Hey guys, I just moved here (Pottsville) about two months ago from Mt. Carmel/Kulpmont. Although not that far apart, I don't know of anywhere here to shoot, hunt, pick mushrooms, ride my quad or especially fish in the near area. I have plenty of places to do this back home where I moved from but honestly have nothing or know of nothing here that supports my hobbies. Can anyone please let me know of places to go here as I am totally oblivious.

Ranger,
The Burma Road has an unofficial range where several people go to shoot, myself included. Lots of folks ride quads and dirt bikes up there also.

Re: where to go?
Is this still a good place to shoot? The last post was last year.

Re: where to go?
That looks like such a nice place, I may have to go there twice a day!
Is this a "Bring your own measuring tape" type of thing, or are the ranges marked off already?

Re: where to go?
You'll be able to get close by finding the areas where other people had placed their targets at about 25, 50, and 100 yards (give or take about 10 yards), but I'd definitely advise using a rangefinder or other means of measuring if you want to sight-in at an exact distance.
If you want to shoot paper targets, you'll need to bring something to hang them on. Sometimes theres an old pallet, TV console, etc. to use, but don't count on it.
There's a ton of junk already there to shoot at: propane cylinders, bowling pins, cans, toy trucks, etc.
One more thing--please be safe when you leave the "parking lot". It's on a curve in the road, and sometimes it's tough to see oncoming traffic. Some guys like to park across the road to avoid this.
Be safe and have fun!

Re: where to go?
Is this place legal to shoot at? I just recently became able to legally own a firearm and im not trying to go on my first shooting trip wit it and either get a outrageous fine, lose my firearm, and be hastle by police or game wardens.
Thanks

Re: where to go?
I shoot there quite often. That place has been there when I was a kid. It's not an official range, but no one will bother you.
