Default Flying to colorado....Then road trip home questions.

Okay he is the deal. I got a friend that lives in Colorado that may be moving home. Two of us our going to catch a flight out and spend maybe a day tops there. After that we are all going to head home (road trip). Every time I fly my stuff goes MIA for a day or two. To avoid this I am thinking of shipping the stuff that I cant throw in a carry on to him. This of coarse would include my handgun. Can I do that? How much of a pain is it to check a gun on a plain? Thanks in advance.

in my opinion, it would definitely be safer to overnight your gun to your buddy in Colorado than to check it in on a plane. Way to much shit gets stolen off of airplanes and if your firearm doesn't show up, you'll play hell getting your money back from the airline. Overnight via FedEx, and insure it for every penny of it's value.

I think you need to look at the legality of shipping it to a friend first. I'm not 100% certain that it would be legal to do so. Having said that, IANAL.

Could it be overnighted to the friends address, but in his own name?
