new shooter in need of advice
Hi everyone, I'm a new shooter, female, looking for advice on becoming a safe and competent gun owner and operator. My boyfriend is very experienced with firearms and is helping me to get started, and he bought me a Browning Buckmark .22 pistol for Christmas.
I'm really looking forward to learning from all of your experience and wisdom, so, any to pass on to a lady newbie? I've been lurking on this forum for a little while, and have found some great threads like this one, but I'm a little overwhelmed by all the information out there.
Any recommendations on classes for beginner pistol with a .22? I live in SWPA.
Thanks for your help and advice!

Welcome to the forum. I would check your area for a couple of classes, both from the NRA. One is a basic handgun safety course and the other is women on target.
Cornered Cat is a great place for some information from a womans perspective.

Agree with the above poster. Go on the NRA's training homepage. Search for First Steps Pistol and you may also be interested in the First Steps Rifle course. These courses are a great value when it comes to cost and course content and yes they're female friendly. You've come to a good place, this forum. This place is a wealth of knowledge. Welcome!

Welcome to the forum.
Under the events section in the training courses you will find a lot of the areas

Hope this helps.

Re: new shooter in need of advice
Welcome, my wife and I are just down rt 30 from you. We go to A&S Indoor Pistol Range and shoot in their 22 league. They have a couple instructors for personal lessons along with group classes. My wife also has a Buckmark and loves it. We are also looking to join a local gun club.
This is a great knowledgable group here, they won't steer you wrong.
