    Default Aftermarket Mags

Do most people stick with their weapon's brand of mags for their carry guns?

Picked up a Glock and have two 10 rounders and one 33 rounder from Glock. Planning on keeping the 10rd carry mags factory, but the hi caps will prob go to the range and come out in an emergency SHTF type situation.

Any brands to look for or specifically avoid? Some like the KCI are a half or a third the price of the Glock mags!

I carry factory Glock magazines, but when I compete in pistol shoots at my indoor range, I use KCI mags. During each run, I change the magazine and allow it to drop onto the concrete floor as I quickly reload. I bought the KCIs as a less expensive alternative to dropping out Glock factory magazines. I have 1000+ flawless rounds through each abused KCI mag.

Depends on the gun for me. My Sig P225 really hates non-factory mags and won't feed reliably towards the end of the magazine. My couple KCI mags for my Glock 17 work flawlessly every time. Get a couple non-factory mags for a new gun and try them out. If you have problems, mark them as junk and buy factory mags. In my experiences, most aftermarket magazines work alright. There are just a few I have that are finicky or just plain crappy.

Glock mags are cheep when you start looking at what factory Sig mags cost. I buy MecGar mags they actually make mags for Sig and are about 1/2 the cost of the mags stamped with Sig Sauer on the side.

Was just going to say that. I don't always buy extra mags. It depends on the purpose the gun was purchased. Not all of my handguns are for carry.
