Firearms stolen after vehicle drives into gun store in New Castle County

NEW CASTLE COUNTY, Delaware (WPVI) -- Authorities are investigating after a gun shop in New Castle County was broken into early Monday.

It happened just before 2 a.m. at Miller's Gun Center on West Jackson Avenue in Wilmington Manor, Delaware.

Officers were initially called to the scene for an alarm going off, but say as they were en route, a passerby called 911 reporting that they had witnessed a flatbed truck backing into the front door.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the store had been broken into and several firearms were stolen.

The truck was not in the area when investigators got to the scene.

A new door surrounded by plywood could be seen outside the shop Monday afternoon.

I remember buying 2 8lb jugs of powder there. The guy behind the counter asked why would anybody need that much powder.

I wonder if there are security cameras mounted inside of the store.

I'm actually surprised this doesn't happen more often, with stolen cars. Especially with all the criminals wearing masks these days. Are there gun stores in the city? Or is that not a thing.

I have bought reloading supplies there in the past.

I'm surprised at the lack of poles in the front of the door. Unless they are backing tractor trailers up to the front door to unload I would think they'd have poles at least to the sides of the door.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it trend upwards. If they executed the perps who did these things, much less of it would be done.
