Rights of Passage, I almost shed a tear today
It was great to see my son put some rounds down range today on his first day ever shooting a firearm. He's done good with the air rifle at home, so I let him handle the Ruger 10-22 today. (yeah, I had him skip over a bolt action .22 through the irons I have, lol) Next time he gets the bolt action though. Towards the end of our time at the range he kept asking if he could fire fast, so it's time to slow him down already until he gets the basics mastered.
Crap cellphone pic of him shooting semi-off hand since the bench is too large for him to get on top of it. (bad father forgot the sling also)
Scanned his easy-view target for the record book, lol.

This is the only reason I'm keeping my Marlin Model 60. Great job, introducing the next generation to the hobby.

I can't wait! I have a .243 waiting for my little girl. She's only 3 but you have to plan ahead.

No it's not, you wuss. It's just a fuckin gun. Now getting your son his first prostitute-- that's big enough to where your eyes can start watering up, just don't let the tear drop or I'll kick yer ass.
Seriously, though, Steelblitz, that's cool. See, shit like that actually makes me think maybe I want kids."When law becomes despotic, morals are relaxed, and vice versa."-- Honore de Balzac, The Wild Ass's Skin...huh, huh..Balzac...Wild Ass...huh, huh

LoL, the boy is already hearing some stories myself or mom tells him from when I was in the Marines, so he'll get plenty more of that and some when he gets older. I took him to the gun show at the farm show building last time it was around and that was a fond moment for me also. Instead of spending his allowance on toys, candy or junk there, he bought an ammo can, dummy 50 cal round, and an inert pineapple grenade. So I think I got him on the right track.

Until a man has children of his own, his opinion on matters such as these... and indeed, the vast majority of other issues... carries little weight.
With a few notable exceptions, of course, for individuals of remarkable talent and intellect... of which I'm sure you are one.
