Default Leaving your guns (in a will) to a non-family member?

I have a question about wills and bequeathing your firearms to a non-family member. I don't care that much, since when it becomes an issue I'll be dead, but if you will your firearms to a non-family member (PA resident), how does your executor legally affect the transfer?

FYI - Tried a search and got this:

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search : will

All that the executor need do is hand over the gun to the named individual.
PA and Federal(and a many other states) dont regulate transfers from bequest or intestate succession.

However, having the gun transferred at a FFL or sheriff will offer the executor and estate protection from civil liability, and criminal liability to make sure the beneficiary isn't a prohibited person.

If it is a handgun, the executor will need a copy of the death cert, documentation that they are authorized to do the transfer, I think a copy of the "will" will work need to verify this. If the spouse is still alive they can also do the transfer along with a copy of the death cert. Just went through this with my uncles guns.
