Does anybody have a "truck gun"?
I use a Glock 27 as my daily carry firearm. But with all the madness going on in the world I need suggestions for a "truck gun". I want something in case SHTF that I could stop an active shooter that is heavily armed. I know people will post pictures of cannons and trucks with M2's mounted on them and thats cool, but a few good ideas would be helpful. I have an 8 yr old daughter and usually many other passengers in my truck so I'd like to keep it in a manner that is safe and secured.
My father drove around with an old sears shotgun on the back window of his chevy for years. I don't think that's exactly what I'm looking to do, but I know there are tons of ways to mount gun racks in pickups. Maybe something under my back seat? Also, even though I currently own a large variety of ar's and ak's and semi-auto shotguns I'm not sure I want to carry my Saiga with a 20rd drum around with me everywhere.
So show me what you choose as a truck gun, (is it a long range rifle with a high power scope or a shotgun), how you secure it, and where you keep the ammo.

AR-15 Pistol would seem to be a good idea. It can be kept loaded because it's not a long gun.

As far as securing it in the vehicle, you can readily buy the same type of locking devices the police use in their cars via Ebay for around $25. Search for Santa Cruz Gun Lock.

Re: Does anybody have a "truck gun"?
Back when SKSs were $200, I obtained at least one.
Stripper clips can legally be left in the same guncase as the rifle, so charging 10 rounds in the factory mag is pretty quick.
If I do get ripped off, I'm out $200 bucks.
At least thats how it went before the tragic boat fire that claimed all my firearms.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

I think an AK pistol would make a great truck gun. Compact and reliable, cheap and available ammo, good capacity. Hard to beat IMO.

I am loving the ar or ak pistol idea, but if there was a situation like Oregon with an active shooter would you guys really rather that over something like a 12ga or a sks and your everyday carry sidearm?

Mosin m38. Cheap, cheap ammo, rugged, accurate enough.
Go sell crazy some where else, we're all stocked up here.

This is the ticket. I bought one of the Sig Brace contraptions when they became popular with my customers. I didn't think I would take a liking to it.
I twisted together an upper with an 11.5" bbl. The "pistol" fits in a discreet carrying case from Eagle that was intended for an Mp5. The case holds 7 mags.
I have been taking it on our RV trips and when I go out of town. It fits unnoticed in a lockable compartment in the truck.
Far higher hit probability than any pistol and unlike shotgun and pistol ammo, will punch holes through both sides of soft body armor.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter
