Default PA to FL with handgun

I built my map on USACarry.org and looks like South Carolina and Maryland will be an issue (I have resident PA, non-res Utah). I found this SC law and if i'm reading this correctly, I can legally have my handgun stored in the luggage area of my trunk. I will travel with handgun unloaded.

"SECTION 16-23-20. Unlawful carrying of handgun; exceptions.
It is unlawful for anyone to carry about the person any handgun, whether concealed or not, except as follows, unless otherwise specifically prohibited by law:
    (9) a person in a vehicle if the handgun is secured in a closed glove compartment, closed console, closed trunk, or in a closed container secured by an integral fastener and transported in the luggage compartment of the vehicle; however, this item is not violated if the glove compartment, console, or trunk is opened in the presence of a law enforcement officer for the sole purpose of retrieving a driver’s license, registration, or proof of insurance;"

South Carolina law will allow the firearm to be kept in the glove box loaded.

I have been told that Maryland law considers a loaded magazine to be a loaded firearm.
    ...and they have a plan...

Since I own homes in both FL and PA, I make that drive regularly. I always go the "back" way (I81 to I77 to I26 to I95) for the following reasons:

    1) Only 15 miles in MD that way vs. ~120 miles of DE+MD going down I95.

    2) It avoids the stress and delays of dealing with the traffic nightmare in the general vicinity of Washington DC.

    3) I81 through the Shenandoah Valley is quite scenic.

SC isn't much of an issue. Put it in the glovebox and don't stop to spend any money there because they won't honor your permit(s).

I just made this trip last week, but looks like all the bases are covered. I didn't have to worry about any state other than SC, but I'm in SWPA.

Yeah, SC you'll be fine keeping it loaded. When you travel through MD (We have stupid laws) make sure that your magizine and the firearm are seperate. I.E the pistol in the trunk and the mags in the glove box. That is the legal way to transport firearms in MD.
