Chest Rig or Plate Carrier What do you have ?

Hi Everyone,

I am starting to look for a chest rig or plate carrier and was wondering what you all like and use ? Where you got it and how much ?

I am leaning toward a plate carrier that I can add to as my budget allows.

I have both, an eagle PC w/cumberbund and an eagle/skd universal chest rig.

If you go with a PC, you MUST wear plates (front and back) to balance the load.

Even with plates front and back, the more ammo you have on the front the more front heavy it will be unless you have a butt pack or camelback to help balance it out. I had 2 pouches for the sandbox that held 6 mags each, one on each side of my belly button and they didn't distribute the weight that great, try going for pouches that hold 1 or 2 magazines each, flat against your body that would atleast better than what I had, the wider the straps are on your shoulders the better as well, otherwise your traps are in some serious pain after a couple hours.

Currently I have a molle open top quad magazine shingle, so I have the flat against the body partly taken care of, just need something to attach it to.

Speaking of plates what do you have ? most of the ones I have found are to be worn in addition to a Level III body armor.

Do you carry an anti-trauma plate as well or is that too much bulk ?

In-Conjunction plates are used with Level IIIA body armor. Level III usually indicates there are plates involved. If you are using plates there is no reason for an anti-trauma plate that I know of.

But if I were to duct tape a second plate to my back, would it stop a .338 Lapua?
