After some good budgeting, and giving up a few trips, plus some overtime, we will have 1 card down in a month, and 1 more to pay off in about 6. After that it should be 8 more years till we are debt free including the house.
You guys?

Same here.
Wife and I were in the stupid club and had every CC known to man. We were up to about 50K in stupid debt, with payments out the ......
Studied Ramsey's stuff, Worked a budget, and a payoff plan of 52 months. Managed to pay it off in 22 months. Now we have ZERO credit cards, a good emergency fund, and accelerating the mortgage, about 9 years left.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
~Samuel Adams
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it."
~Thomas Jefferson, 1791

He charges for his books, but the ideas and plan for the baby steps are free.
If you can pick up The Total Money Makeover at the library, your setBest part about Dave's plans, even if they didnt work, you arent out anything but some payments on debts. Its all just good old fashioned common sense.

He has a ton of resource on his web site. He also has a talk show.

It is very much old fashioned common sense, much of which I seemed to be lacking
With the debt roll-down or snow-ball methods, we literally watch our debt roll-away. I wrote some software that can chart payoffs. It worked for us.

Re: Any Dave Ramsey fans here?
A friend gave me a copy of his software, comes with the book on CD, and has a debt snowball chart. Real good stuff, and listen to the show archives almost every day (gotta take a break sometimes for Glenn Beck)

Re: Any Dave Ramsey fans here?
Dave Ramsey makes total sense. He offers no-nonsense, sound advice in such a way that any moron can understand. We're working on the baby steps ourselves, so I speak from personal experience. If you are in debt, it is worth a few minutes of your time to check this guy out. I catch him on XM radio 165, 3-7pm, or maybe 4-7pm? If you're smart enough to make a monthly budget for yourself, all you need is his free info to get on track.
