22lr for Ruger 22/45
I would like to know what other people are using in their Ruger Mark III 22/45. I recently bought one and I have not shot it yet. I am going to the store today and I am going to pick up some 22lr for it. Just want to know if one brand was better then another.
The truth shall set you free.

My Mark II 22/45 isn't as reliable with lead bullets. It does fine with anything jacketed.
I usually shoot the 550 round bricks of Federal JHP's from Wal-Mart. Winchester Dynapoints work well in mine too.

Re: 22lr for Ruger 22/45
If the Mark III 22/45 is anything like the Mark III Hunter, I wouldn't even bother trying plain lead bullets in it; it'll foul like crazy-- like, within the first 10-20 rounds. When I inquired at Ruger about the fouling in my Hunter, they said to use a jacketed bullet instead. I've got some Remington "Golden Bullets" (brass-plated) I'm going to try, we'll see how they do.

Remmington Golden Bullets were the only plated rounds that do not feed well in mine.

My 22/45 eats any ammo I put into it. It has never given me problem with any kind of ammo.

If you have a 22lr, you owe it to yourself to try Wolf MT for accuracy.
It's not the same as the steel cased centerfire Wolf and it's truly impressive for the price.

Re: 22lr for Ruger 22/45
I've had good luck with the Winchester Dynapoints from Waley World. They feed well, are relatively clean, accuracy is good, and the price isn't bad. I seldom clean the barrel, occasionally brush the chamber with solvent to remove wax lube and crud. Thunderbolts work, but tend to be very dirty.

Re: 22lr for Ruger 22/45
Regular Federal 550-round bricks work just fine for me, but I have a Mark III, not the 22/45
