What Political Ideology Do You Follow/Consider Yourself?
I've been on this forum for about two weeks now and get the distinct feeling (from what I have read) that most people are of the Libertarian mindset. As far as I'm concerned, a Libertarian is someone who does whatever the hell they like as long as it does not infringe, or negatively impact, another persons rights or liberty.
I am not after a discussion about which is the best ideological philosophy, merely what political ideology you follow and why.
As a far as I go, I consider myself a Libertarian.
I consider myself a Libertarian because after reading about the history of this country (and a liberal dash of Austrian Economics and Ron Paul), I realised that my right wing ideology of every "nappy head" should die was complete and utter imperialistic nonsense. I also come from a socialistic country that has been described as a 'modern soft totalitarian state' and have seen first hand the damage that collectivist thinking and government intervention does to (amongst other things) the standard of living to the subjects (citizens) of Britain.Last edited by buster2209; October 29th, 2009 at 01:51 AM.

Individualist Anarchist. I have no want or need of "representatives," but if others choose to do so within a framework of voluntarism and an absence of coercion, then I have no quarrel with it.

Re: What Political Ideology Do You Follow/Consider Yourself?
I consider myself more aligned with rightwing thinking and beliefs but not in all things. A moderate Republican you could say. I don't fully back any party, neither fits all things for me. Libertarian doesn't fit the bill either and while I like much of the tenets of that political view, some I just can't go along with. But one thing I feel sure of, straight up Democrat is dangerous. I don't want or like expanding government, nor increased intrusion into our lives. I don't mind social programs originally designed to help people out of a tough spot but deplore that those programs became a lifestyle to many. I hate taxation to fund the needs of other countries, particularly when our own lacks a sound infrastructure and must serve debt due to budget deficits, deficits borne of social programs run amok, funding "feel good" legislation and providing finacial aid to countries that often do not use the aid as intended.
I realize this is easier said than done but I prefer to see us return to more of an isolationist stance. Provide for ourselves with what we have. Protect ourselves with extreme prejudice. If we must fight a war, do so full on. We've given huge amounts of money away....and still the rest of the world scorns us. Screw 'em. Worry about US first, make things right HERE....then we can worry about the rest of the world.

I'm strongly conservative, but I do have libertarian leanings.
I was hoping for "right-wing extremist" as a choice, but you didn't list that!Nine out of ten moderators approve of this post!

I consider myself a Reformist: Ideology is simple - throw ALL their A$$es out, and start over by electing people who can read and follow the Constitution. Simple enough......

I really dont like labels unless it's on something I'm buying. I believe in God and my constitution. I want to be left alone but I have surely been pushed around enough by this government that I am willing to get that 5 million American march under way!

I consider myself a moderate (leaning towards conservative) Libertarian.
