    Default Empty your range bag

Ok, what's in the range bag on a typical trip to the range?

I keep finding myself missing one thing or another when I go to the range. I got a stapler and no staples, a box of ammo for one gun but brought another. I do all sorts of slip ups like that.

So I started compiling a list, and hung it up inside the safe door. So when I'm packing for a range day, I bring the right freaking stuff.

How about it, what do you pack when heading out?

    *edit to add*
I guess in all the scatter brains, I forgot to post my list ... (see, this is how I forget stuff. lol)
    spare mag for each firearm
Ammo varies per gun going to the range but here's the basic outline:
    1 box .22lr - 550rds
    2 box 9mm - 200rds
    1 box 40 - 50rds
    1 box .30-06 - 20rds
    5 box .223 - 100rds
stapler and staples (recheck this every range trip)
    roll of masking tape
    sharpie
    various sized targets
    speed loader for mags
    safety glasses
    ear plugs and muffs

    SAFETY GLASSES......

Actually I never unpack my range bag, unless I need it for something else, which is rare

I usually keep the same items in my range bag at all times:

    Muffs
    Many sets of ear plugs
    Paper plates(cheap targets)
    Magic marker(for the paper plates)
    Pack of 100yd sighting targets
Roll of packing tape(to put targets on cardboard backings)
6 spring clips(to hold cardboard onto wire on the line)
A few assorted screwdrivers and pliers
A few pairs of shooting glasses
A copy of the range rules
Photocopies of all my NFA item forms

If I'm only bringing 1 or 2 guns to the range then I will sometimes just throw the ammo in the range bag. Usually I bring quite a few however so I carry the ammo in a plastic ammo box.

An easy way to not forget things is to lay out your firearms that you are gonna bring. Make sure there is a mag in each one. Then grab the ammo for each one. I've been doing it that way and have yet to forget anything.(although I sometimes underestimate how much I will want to shoot certian ones and not bring enough ammo)

i keep the softies and the head muffs in the bag along with the stapler and staples. they were bought JUST for the range bag. same with glasses.

i grab ammo and magazines as needed. targets ket carried seperatly as they dotn fit in te bag. i need to get a PVC Pipe and fasten it to the back for targets.

today i am going shooting and taking ALL of my guns as a couple other people will be joining me.

5 AR mags, 4 M9 mags and 200 rounds of 9mm with 130 rounds of .223. only have one 10/22 mag still so thats easy. one bok of 550 .22lr and the remaining .454 C. i will put all of the ammo into one ammo can with the mags. it will be a nice snug fit. so the range bag will be nice and light... lol

speaking of this, i need to get packing... i have to leave soon... lol

I keep the stapler and targets in the trunk so they are always available.

    The range bag consists of:
    Ball cap
    Ear muffs and ear sponges
    Safety glasses
    Firearm cleaning products and oils
    Rags and brushes
Assorted small tools including Allen wrenches
    Flashlight
    Baby wipes
    Tissues
Small eye wear cleaning kit (Walmart)
Small first aid kit with super glue
    Ammo
    Magazines
    Speed loaders

What has been very exciting is i'm also "building" a range bag for my son!
    He's 19, but, I guess i'm still Santa Claus!
