    Default AR15 buttstock removal?

I thought this would be easy but I reckon not or I'm just being too careful. I can't find anything on the internet and I bought a removal tool but it doesn't fit as well as I would like. Steer me in the right direction. You know of a great DVD or a website? I don't want to bugger it all up.

    Thanks Ahead~ Ned

What type of stock are you removing, and are you removing the stock only or the buffer tube as well?

I personally use the DPMS Multi-Tool for everything AR-related.

One thing I learned while playing around with the AR I used to have...
Be careful when you take the stock off.
As you loosen up the castle nut that holds the stock on, the plate on the back of the reciever will come loose. When it does, a little spring that looks like the spring from a ballpoint pen will try to come flying out and it may get lost or bent when it does. Bent isn't a catastrophe but lost could be frustrating. IIRC, it will be on the left side. It is the spring that holds the takedown pin in.
    Good luck.

Do a search - somewhere here I posted a link for a great way to keep spring in using a 440 set screw so you never have to worry about it again.
