A derringer is classed as a handgun for transfer purposes. The seller in this case has an incorrect description. If it were a shotgun, it would be a SBS and thus an NFA gun. In my different wholesaler catalogs it is shown as a derringer.

Is it just me, or is the first picture there on gun broker a not so bright thing to do?

Generally, I would agree, but I don't think it has a trigger even installed in those photos...

Its a handgun. FMJ/Linead/Cobray didn't make those in smoothbore. It has rifled bores, not smoothbores, and it lacks a shoulder stock = handgun, 45 caliber handgun with long chambers to accept 410 shells.. Derringers are handguns, small ones - that isn't a derringer due to its size. All handguns are pistols, derringers are just small handguns for concealment and can generally fit into a pocket. "Derringer" has nothing to do with the number of shots, but rather its size.

It has a trigger in the pics.

I've owned just about one of every contraption FMJ/Cobray ever made over the years. While some are junk, most will function as designed and last for years provided you dont use hot ammo.
